2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Recall

Heads up everyone.

2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew pickup trucks built at the Dearborn Assembly Plant in Michigan between Jan. 22 and March 17, 2015 have seat belts that were improperly secured. The seat belts could fail to hold you in place is an accident does happen so it's best to bring yours in or check if your F-150 has been affected and on the recall list.

The dealership should be replacing the front driver and/or passenger seat belt belts free of charge.

I found this on pickuptrucks.com this morning.

They will replace the belts or bring them up to spec? if its just improper install couldn't they fix it by simply installing them correctly LOL why the need for new parts?

It might be a case of anchor points not being where they should be which also factors into them not securing down properly.

So I found more news about this recall from torque news. They will need to replace the front safety belt retractor / pretensioner assembly. Not sure why if it't an installation problem but better safe than sorry.

sounds more like faulty parts then improper install...

Unfortunately, Ford believes that these trucks built from January through March have a portion of the pretensioner system that has not been installed correctly and as a result, the pretensioner system may not work correctly in the event of an accident.
Ford is probably trying to downplay it when they say improperly installed instead of faulty seat belts.
