Ford Stock Piling 2017 F150s

Ford is stock piling a bunch of 2017 F150s for testing which is causing a delay to the dealers. They're trying to ensure that there are no issue with this new 10-speed transmission. They're pretty much trying to make sure they don't have to issue a recall when these get put out. They haven't disclosed how many they're holding but it's been said that several hundred trucks have been parked in a empty factoring parking lot in Detroit. Many very well equipped with a sticker price of over $50k.

I like the sounds of that, beats having these come to market with mass recalls. But at least with how reputable of a truck brand Ford is, even with mass recalls it won't impact them by much.

Someone can likely score a good deal picking up one of these F150s being tested. Anyone here into doing that?

I didn't think you could buy the test vehicles as used models... could you?

For legal purposes you probably can't and i'm sure they created those test models from the start with that in mind. Some have no real VIN's and none of the other things required to register and legally drive a vehicle on local roads. Often once they served the purpose intended for, they either get destroyed or saved for future development.

So there goes the idea of getting a good deal picking on up unfortunately, such a shame though. Could definitely use some parts from them or something. But instead they'll be subjected to a scrapper and nothing is usable after that. Just recycled metal.
