Ford making camper F150s now

This has not been done in years. Full camper setups from the manufacturer, presumably with manufacturer financing to make it easier. The F150 will be first to offer a pickup camper setup again.

Ford Is Doing Its Own Line Of Campers And Trailers









Ford branded trailers will be available too. Who needs an RV when you can have an F150 and one of these?



I wonder what the Ford Transit guys are saying about this. Could a Transit tow one of those separate trailers too?

After some more thought, that camper over the bed configuration has to weigh 2500-3000 lbs. If the payload rating for the whole truck is only like 2800 lbs, how is that safe or certified by Ford? Add a few humans and their belongings and the truck is definitely overweight, despite being used for its intended use.

I'd love to do this with a superduty since not only will I want a camper but to haul around a boat too.

It looks like a lot of fun but I can only imagine the fuel expense. I suppose its no less than any other type of camper though.

I feel like these campers are more geared for super Duty owners. I have no idea how the F-150 can handle one of these fully loaded with personal items and humans.

Do you really suspect that Ford will sell you a product that takes your vehicle beyond it's operational GVWR? Because i seriously doubt that.

Companies like RAM won't even let you get a sunroof with certain combinations because it puts them too close to GVWR.

For short beds they range from 2,100 to 2,900. Short bed trucks have higher payloads as the truck doesn't chew up as much of GVWR.

With the HD Tow Pack a regular cab 2WD trim with the 3.5 EcoBoost F150 will do north of 3,000 lbs payload in the bed.

Even so all configus of F-150 have a 6,000 lb or so GVWR, so your concerns are non existent

Don't you have to minus the net weight of the vehicle with accessories, passengers, fuel and cargo from the GVWR before you have the payload number? Or did I misunderstand what GVWR stands for.

I'm assuming that Ford has already done all that before publishing the payload and GVWR on their website.

Also, logically we have to assume that Ford isn't going to sell a non-compliant accessory to the public. That's mad negligence LOL

Wonder which truck will be able to handle the 11S camper. That one seems to have all the bells and whistles.
